WSOP Online Success!
Today I played in a tournament at the Venetian. The players weren’t very good, and I was able to build up my stack initially. Then they all figured out that the way to get me to fold was to keep shoving. So after a while my stack diminished. Also, by the end, the dealer was kind of annoying—a woman who always makes silly sexual innuendos like the kind we made in 5th grade. And a player showed up who talks nonstop about how good he is and how he can beat anyone and… well, you get it.
So I got into a 4-way shove and lost, leaving me 10 big blinds. I got a big ace (an A and a big card—I think it was a 10), so I shoved. The loquacious player (I use that word to show off) held his cards really high, said, “I should call you,” and took a big stack of chips in his hand. I said, “You shouldn’t do that. People might see your cards.” He said no one could see his cards and challenged me to tell him what they were, which I definitely wouldn’t do if I did know. He then folded, but a third player insisted that he should be shown the chattering player’s cards. I asked him why. He said I had an advantage from seeing the cards. I explained that all my chips were in the middle already, so I had no advantage. I couldn’t take back my chips. But this third player kept complaining and called over the floor manager who agreed that I didn’t have any advantage, but he would show everyone the cards, but only after the hand was over. The third player sulked and folded. A fourth player called me and won, busting me out. I decided not to rebuy because I wasn’t having fun at this point.
So I went home and after completing my entire task list for the week, I entered an online tournament. I was doing really well as we got close to the money until, suddenly I took a bad beat with A4 in my hand and flopping two pair (As and 4s) and shoving and getting called by a player with A10 who turned a 10 for his better two pair.
So I played one more online game. After a couple hours, it seemed I could do no wrong. I had the number one stack in the tournament and held onto it all the way to the final table. You can see me above (I’m at the bottom middle in case you don’t recognize me). Unfortunately I had a few losses at that table and ended up busting out in fifth place, but for a decent enough win to make the entire day profitable.
