The Wynn Mystery Bounty (afterthought)

I’ve been thinking about how I busted out of the Wynn Mystery Bounty tournament. I had AJ and less than 20 big blinds. I shoved pre-flop and got called by pocket Qs and busted out. Maybe that was a mistake, maybe not. However, the alternative was to bet 3 big blinds pre-flop. The player with pocket Qs would have either called or raised. If he raised, I would have shoved. I had to shove AJ with a short stack. If he called, the flop was J86, giving me top pair (Js) and top kicker (A). Again, with a short stack, I would have shoved and gotten called by pocket Qs. Any way it played out, I would have busted out (assuming the player with pocket Qs wasn’t a total idiot). So there’s some kind of consolation.
